Our Leadership

Pastor Kevin Olson

Pastor Kevin Olson

Pastor Kevin has served Our Savior’s since October 2014.  He is married to Sandi, and has two adult children, Hannah and Kenny.  Pastor Kevin was ordained in July of 1989, and for over 28 years has served congregations in Glenville, Goodhue and Eagan Minnesota, before coming to Hibbing.   Pastor Kevin has a gregarious and engaging personality, and his preaching will comfort and challenge you at the same time.  Pastor Kevin loves the outdoors, and when he is not engaged in shepherding the flock at Our Savior’s, he can be seen biking on the Mesabi bike trail with his wife, Sandi, in the summer; cross-country skiing at Carey Lake in the winter; and hunting and fishing with family and friends “up at the shack” just south of Crane Lake come fall and spring.

Pastor Kevin serves as the Dean of the Laurentian Conference of the N.E. Minnesota Synod of the ELCA (Our Savior’s is one of 27 churches that belong to this conference), and he is very interested in leading the church through the unique and challenging opportunities that take place with life on the Range.  Whether leading worship on Sunday morning, visiting our home bound members, teaching First Communion Class, Confirmation, or leading a canoe trip into the B.W.C.A. with our youth, Pastor Kevin enjoys the service he can render in the name of Jesus Christ. Please know that you are always welcome to come speak with Pastor Kevin as the coffee pot is always on!

_______________

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church has 7 committees which work together to do the mission of the congregation: Worship, Christian Nurture, Congregational Life, Mission Action, Ministry and Personnel, Property, and Finance.  Most committees meet once a month.  If you are interested in getting involved in one of these ministries, contact the church office.

The church council’s duty to provide long-range leadership for OSLC.  The council also aids committees in doing their work and provides general management for the congregation.  The council meets on the second Tuesday of each month.

The staff of Our Savior’s keep day to day operations of the church going, provide organizational leadership, lead worship, and keep our building sparkling clean.  In the front office you will find our financial secretary, Cindy Eggert and Administrative Assistant, Nancy Samuelson.  Working in the choir balcony, with musicians or directing the bell choir is our director of music ministry, Roy Berg.  At the organ and piano is Nadine Berg.  Roaming around the building you might find our custodian, Travis Odegaard.

While we have many defined leaders, staff, and our pastor, they are not the ministers of the congregation.  Rather, their role is to encourage and empower the congregation in its ministry.

Cindy Eggert – Financial Secretary
and Confirmation Coordinator

Cindy Eggert, Financial Secretary and Confirmation Coordinator

My name is Cindy Eggert and I have had the pleasure of serving Our Savior’s as Financial Secretary and Confirmation Coordinator since February 1989. Prior to holding this part-time position I was a full time wife and mother. Keith and I along with oldest daughter joined the congregation in early 1976. We were blessed with two more daughters, our active family participated in many activities at Our Savior’s, including Sunday School, Shepherding Groups and drama presentations. This congregation has been the village that raised our daughters, lifted us in prayer and shared many joys and blessings with us. I hope I will get the opportunity to greet many of you and continue to be a member of “A Community transformed by Christ, to be Christ in the World”.

Nadine Berg – Organist

Nadine Berg – Organist

It has been my privilege to serve as organist for OSLC since the spring of 2013. Although I have a degree in vocal music, I have spent as much time being an instrumentalist as a singer, and have been playing organ for about 35 years. I find it incredibly rewarding to serve in this capacity and strive to enhance the worship service through the music that I choose and the hymns and choir anthems that I accompany.

Roy Berg

Roy Berg

l joined the staff of Our Savior’s Lutheran in the fall of 2017. This is a continuation of my music career which has always included in some part a music ministry (usually directing choirs). I have Bachelor and Master’s degrees in vocal music which have been very useful in guiding singers of all experience levels to develop into better singers. Choral music in our worship can greatly enhance the experience of any congregation. It is my goal to select music of various styles chosen especially for the spiritual content. Grow your faith by volunteering for either Temple Choir or the Handbell Choir.
